What is General Dentistry?

General dentistry focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating common oral health issues. This is done through routine checkups, recommended at six-monthly intervals for most individuals.

Some common general procedures include:

  • Consultation
  • Scaling and polishing (Cleaning)
  • Fillings
  • X-rays
  • Extractions
  • Periodontics (Gum treatment)
  • Root canal treatment

Is My Condition Really An Emergency?

Not all dental problems feel like an emergency, but some issues shouldn’t be ignored or put off. Here are some of the situations that warrant emergency treatment:

  • Severe, persistent toothaches
  • Swelling in the gums, jaw, or face, especially if accompanied by fever
  • Teeth that are loose, displaced or knocked out by trauma
  • Bleeding in the mouth or gums that do not stop after 10-15 minutes of pressure
  • Dental abscess characterized by pus, a bad taste in the mouth, sensitive teeth and pain while chewing
Hands picking up Invisalign / clear aligners and an aligner case.

For other concerns, our team will guide you on whether you need urgent care or if it’s safe to follow up with a regular appointment.
